"Counting The Days Till They All Have Homes"

Missy after CRUSA picked her up from a puppy mill.

Missy is happy to have a second chance at life.

Missy was picked up as a puppy mill release the day after Thanksgiving in 2005.  She's been with CRUSA on her road to recovery ever since.  Missy was so neglected at the puppy mill that her coat became filthy and matted down to the skin.  As soon as CRUSA got her, she was shaved down to the skin to relive the painful matting and treat her yeast infection caused by the heavily matted filthy fur.  In Missy's picture you will notice her ears are pointed to the side and she has a stiff posture.  This was due to the fact she was so terrified of people because of her puppy mill experiences.  CRUSA gave all her shots and had her teeth cleaned which resulted in extracting a few rotten teeth.  This is most likely due to poor diet and no vet care.  Due to the crystals found in her bladder we were unable to spay her.  The crystals were caused by malnutrition while she was repeatedly bred at the mill.    She was put on a special diet but developed a bladder infection.

While the infection was clearing, a hernia in her groin area began to grow to the size of a tennis ball.  Once the infection was cleared, CRUSA took her to back to the vet so that her hernia could be removed and she could be spayed.   She laid motionless for over 3 hours on the operating room table while the vet worked to pull her intestines back into her body and out the skin that now protruded from her leg.  Missy feared walking on a leash, being petted and had never enjoyed something as simple as a dog toy or treat before coming to CRUSA.   In spite of everything little Missy has been endured, she is a very happy dog and is beginning to love her new freedom, her life and all the people she's met.
